Plot summary
Eddie Jillette and Joey Collins are Chicago detectives who work mostly undercover. A drug stakeout turns up word of a paid killing to be carried out in New Orleans, though the target is not named. The job becomes personal for Eddie, and he heads south to investigate. His first lead is the wealthy Deveneux family; Paul Deveneux had arranged the contract before he was killed in Chicago. The family will not cooperate, so Eddie seeks out Michel Duval, a blonde who had been Paul's companion. The New Orleans police let Eddie know he is not welcome, and Losado, the man the contract was meant for, learns that Eddie is in town. Michel is caught between the two men.
