Plot summary
On February 14, 1993, a fight broke out at a bowling alley in Hampton, Virginia, a city where Allen Iverson was a high school basketball star. He and several of his friends faced accusations that they had struck adults with chairs; the trouble is said to have started when white students from the neighboring town of Poquoson used racial epithets. A bowling alley employee who knew Iverson from school testified that he struck a young white woman on the head with a chair. The camcorder record of the scene is hard to read. Charges were filed against Iverson and three friends, Melvin Stephens, Samuel Wynn and Michael Simmons. A Hampton native returns to hear residents, friends and former coaches describe how the case exposed the town's racial divisions.
