Plot summary
Hannah Hermann is French and Daniel Dussault is Québécois; both are in their forties and have settled in Montreal, where music is their livelihood. Their work together consists of French synagogal music written in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, a repertoire they keep in front of audiences even though it had been lost. Supporting the group has grown difficult. The couple faces a financial burden and works with few resources and no local subsidies, in spite of the talent and the commitment they bring to it. Daniel keeps hunting for ways to carry on; Hannah refuses to make any compromise.
