Plot summary
At the 1913 premiere of The Rite of Spring in Paris, the audience heckles Igor Stravinsky's score and choreography, but Coco Chanel is taken with the music. Seven years pass. Chanel's business has prospered, and she mourns Arthur 'Boy' Capel, her lover, killed in a car crash. Stravinsky, having left Russia after the revolution, is a penniless refugee in Paris. Sergei Diaghilev, the Ballets Russes impresario, introduces them, and the two are drawn to each other at once. Chanel learns the Stravinsky family needs a home and invites the composer, his ailing wife and their children to Bel Respiro, her new villa in Garches, outside Paris, until they find somewhere of their own.
