Plot summary
The documentary traces how home movie viewing moved from video stores to DVDs and then to streaming, and how Netflix grew out of that change. It starts with the early years of in-home video and the arrival of the DVD, the landscape in which a small Silicon Valley company began renting films by mail. From there it follows the company's long contest with the rental giant Blockbuster and its later collision with Amazon, drawing on interviews with people on both sides of the rivalry. It is adapted from Netflixed: The Epic Battle For America's Eyeballs, a book about the fight for American viewers.
