Plot summary
Between 2016 and 2017, Iraqi forces fought to take Mosul back from the Islamic State, and a camera crew spent nine months embedded with several of their units, gathering eyewitness footage as the operation went on. Their record follows the groups that joined the fight, Sunni tribesmen, Shiite militias, Christian fighters and Kurdish Peshmerga, and the points where their accounts meet. Iraqi journalist Ali Maula moves with the militia and records interviews along the way, among them Captain Alaa Atah, an officer with the Iraqi Emergency Response Brigade, and Sheikh "The Crocodile" Saleh. Also followed are Um Hanadi, a war widow, and Nasser Issa, who recruited for the Islamic State.
