Plot summary
Arya keeps her stepmother at a distance, still missing her own mother, though Devki Sabarwal teaches biology at Arya's school and keeps trying to reach her. After Mohit Chadda shares a crude video with Arya during a lesson, Devki throws his phone through a window. Arya attends a Valentine's Day party at a farmhouse, where she turns down Mohit and his cousin Charles Deewan. On her way out, Charles, Mohit, Jagan and the guard Baburam attack her. Inspector Mathew Francis rounds the four up, but the case falls apart: Arya had been drinking, and the samples gathered late are too weak to match. The judge acquits them. Arya, broken by the verdict, pulls away from Devki, and her lawyer urges an appeal that Devki has no faith in.
