Plot summary
In 1948, on her way to work in Jerusalem, Hind Husseini finds 55 orphaned children in the street and takes them into her home and gives them food and shelter. Their number grows to almost 2,000 within six months, and the Dar Al-Tifel Institute is founded. In 1978, after her mother dies, Miral's father sends her to the Institute at the age of five. Miral grows up within its walls, little aware of the troubles outside.
