Plot summary
Harry Palmer heads a private investigation business in Moscow. His associates are Nikolai Petrov, called Nick, Craig, a former CIA agent, and Colonel Gradsky, a former KGB colonel. A client whose identity they are not told hires them to find a thousand grams of weapons-grade plutonium stolen from the Russian government. The search takes Palmer back to Saint Petersburg, where he has enemies among two rival gangsters, Alex and Yuri.
