Plot summary
Roy comes back to Hong Kong after three decades in Brazil, hoping to settle unfinished business before he dies. Alzheimer's disease is eroding his memory, and in his pack he keeps a half-smoked cigarette, a memento of the woman he loved. He hires Smokey, a young thug, to be his guide. Smokey spends his days videotaping a policewoman he is infatuated with and trying to learn who his father was. The two travel through the Hong Kong underworld and talk about the loves they idealized and the opportunities they let slip. Roy is also looking for the man who shot him and took the woman from him.
