Plot summary
Broadway talent agent Jud Parker likes being single and takes on few clients. A client's summons takes him to New Haven, where the dancing Dean Brothers have a dispute, and there he meets Anastacia "Staci" Macaboy, who teaches dancing and hopes to buy a routine from the Deans. When she introduces her mother, he leaves. Days later Staci travels to New York for a dance instructors' conference; her mother stays home with a sprained ankle, and she knows the Levoys, mother and daughter, aim to open a rival dancing school. Staci and Jud meet again in the Astor Hotel elevator, and he invites her to lunch, then to her first baseball game, where his New York Giants are playing.
