Plot summary
Sahil is a musician who lives in Mumbai. Jai, his childhood friend, is a successful businessman based in New York. Jai comes to Mumbai for a business meeting, and Sahil arranges a weekend trip into the Western Ghats. The two drive to Mahabaleshwar overnight. On arrival they look around the local market. At a music store, Jai hears Sahil play guitar and urges him to make music his full-time career. During the trip they argue about a relationship they failed to maintain. Sahil is bothered by Jai's indifference and his workaholic nature. Jai is annoyed by Sahil's constant complaints.

- Sudhanshu Saria shot Loev discreetly for fear of local opposition to its homosexuality theme: only a core group of crew knew the plot, the rest believed they were making a road trip film like Dil Chahta Hai (2001), and were surprised when Shiv Panditt kissed Dhruv Ganesh outdoors.
- Co-producer Lamba said investors in Loev backed out at the last minute on more than one occasion, and the film's crew members financed the project from their own salaries to meet production costs.
- Loev was the last film role for Dhruv Ganesh: he died of tuberculosis in January 2015 while the film was in post-production, and the opening credits of the final cut honour his memory.
- Shiv Panditt said Sudhanshu Saria had no desire to cast him because he thought Panditt did only commercial films, and that he had to force the director to consider him.
- Loev's screening at the 2016 South by Southwest Film Festival was the first time an Indian film had been shown at that festival.
