Plot summary
Jessica Loren's first assignment as a rookie police officer is the last shift at a station that is closing permanently. Her mother argues against the job because her father, also an officer, was killed on duty. Her commanding officer, Cohen, shows her around, explains that a hazmat team will collect evidence that is hard to dispose of, and tells her she cannot leave her post; he gives her his phone number for emergencies. During the shift Jessica hears knocking, finds a homeless man who refuses to leave, and takes distress calls from a woman named Monica. The dispatcher confirms that all emergency calls are being routed to the new station.
