Plot summary
During the Wanli Emperor's reign, the Bruneian Empire sends a rare creature to the Ming court, and Ocean Feng, an officer of the Imperial Secret Police, is given the task of taming it. The beast looks ferocious but is gentle by nature, so Ocean releases it instead of turning it into a weapon and leaves the palace with Frigid, whose father was executed on false charges. The palace answers with a bounty on the creature, and martial arts masters set out to claim it. Crane Sun, a supervisor of the Eastern Depot, is ordered to capture monsters that have escaped the palace, while Blade joins his martial arts junior Bella and Frigid to gather forest fighters and rob silver from corrupt officials. The robbery brings no silver, and the wanderer Cypress arrives.
