Plot summary
The film examines how food is grown and what that does to the planet. It criticizes conventional agriculture, particularly tilling and pesticide use, for soil erosion, for its part in climate change and for its effects on human health. Against that it sets regenerative agriculture, presented as a way to improve soil health, store carbon, steady the climate, restore water supplies and keep the world fed. Farmers, scientists, conservation agronomists, soil researchers and a French agriculture minister describe how they work the land and why they say the change is needed. Public figures who campaign on climate also appear.
