Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Keet & Koen: The Treasure Hunt (2015)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • Aad van Toor returned as De Baron, the villain he first played in Het geheim van de schatkaart, in what was seen as his and Bas van Toor's farewell film. Paul van Gorcum, who took over the role in later series, was not asked back, partly because of a 2005 lawsuit he filed against the brothers over DVD royalties.
  • An early script had no Keet and Koen but two street artists, Franky and Christiaan, aged 18 to 25, under the title De neefjes van Bassie en Adriaan. After a collaboration with RTL Telekids, Keet! was given a role; an open audition on 1 February 2014 sought actors who could also juggle, conjure, beatbox or ventriloquise.
  • Producers approached radio hosts Coen Swijnenberg and Sander Lantinga for the roles of the movers after their move from 3FM to Radio 538. The parts went to Sven Ornelis and Maarten Vancoillie, likely because it was logistically unfeasible for the pair; it was Vancoillie's first film role and Ornelis's second.
  • The role of Koen was first meant for Job Bovelander, but when a large part of the shoot shifted to Belgium he could no longer combine it with the theatre concert 'Vive La France', in which he was one of the soloists.
  • The film is set in Vogelpark Avifauna, a bird park earlier used as a location for the song Dierentaal in De huilende professor; unlike the television series, Vlaardingen was not used as a location.
  • The Honda Prelude driven by Keet and Koen bears the plate JX-74-NB, the same plate the car had in Leren & Lachen met Bassie & Adriaan and Het geheim van de schatkaart. The original car no longer exists, so a replica was used, one that originally carried the plate 61-KSR-7.
  • Bas and Aad van Toor, the duo behind Bassie en Adriaan, had a total of five shooting days on the film set.
