Plot summary
Rika Nishina, a social worker, is sent by her boss Hirohashi to look after Sachie, an elderly woman who has moved into a house in Nerima, Tokyo with her son Katsuya and his wife Kazumi. Inside, Rika finds a young boy, Toshio. Years earlier the house was the scene of a murder: Takeo Saeki killed his wife Kayako and their son, and the killings left a grudge that revives the dead as vengeful ghosts. Anyone who sets foot inside is marked, and the curse travels with them to the places where they die. Detectives Nakagawa and Igarashi take an interest in the house's history.
