Plot summary
Higuruma, a crime boss in feudal Japan, kills a rival, and an old man who guarded a sacred site dies in the same attack. Higuruma believes that Miyo, the girl the old man had looked after, saw the killings and carried away evidence of his criminal work. She escapes and goes in search of her missing father. The swordsman Hyakasuro takes her side on the road, while Higuruma and his men comb the countryside for her. The land the gangsters desecrated answers in its own way: its yokai, the spirits of that place, are drawn to the boss and his men.
