Plot summary
Ismaël Vuillard is a film director at work on his next feature. It stars Ivan and is based on Ismaël's estranged brother; it tells of a diplomat who is possibly a spy. Henri telephones Ismaël in the middle of the night. Ismaël was married to Henri's daughter Carlotta, gone twenty years and presumed dead. He now has a relationship with Sylvia, an astrophysicist. Carlotta appears before Ismaël and Sylvia.
