Plot summary
Dom and Cole, a gay couple living in Los Angeles, are working through the adoption process. They travel to Italy for their tenth anniversary, and early in the trip a call reaches them from Candace, a prospective birth mother. Daniele, someone Dom's father has known for years, sets up an anniversary dinner for them at a farm restaurant in the countryside outside Orvieto. The drive through the countryside is difficult. At the restaurant, Zia Luciana, the proprietor, once famous, greets them warmly and serves pizza and wine; she tells them, in Italian, about her son Giovanni, who has died. The couple had hoped the vacation would help them reconnect.
