Plot summary
When his two older brothers, Yangnyeong and Hyoryeong, disappoint King Taejong, the king declares that his third son, Grand Prince Choong-nyung, will rule next. Choong-nyung wants a quiet life with his books and refuses, then climbs over the palace wall to get away before the coronation. Outside he runs into Deok-chil, a bad-tempered drunken slave who has come to the palace to free the woman he loves, jailed because her father is suspected of being a spy. Deok-chil could pass for the prince, and the two trade clothes. A knock on the head leaves Choong-nyung taken for a slave, while Deok-chil sits on the throne.
