Plot summary
In Columbus, Ohio, autistic teens and young adults meet with Dr. Emilio Amigo, a counselor, over twelve weeks of practice in the social skills their first spring formal will ask of them. The main subjects are three young women. Marideth Bridges is sixteen and spends much of her day at her computer at home, learning facts. Jessica Sullivan is twenty-two, lives with her parents and works at a bakery staffed by autistic employees. Caroline McKenzie is nineteen and a college student; she and Jessica are best friends, and she has a boyfriend she met through Dr. Emilio Amigo's family counseling center.
