Plot summary

Tom Dolan served as a US Marine demolitions expert, then used those skills to rob a string of banks, and became known as the In-and-Out Bandit. At the storage facility where he hides the money, he meets Annie Wilkins, and the two become inseparable. A year later, wanting a life with her and no guilt from his past, Tom telephones the FBI and proposes handing back the money in return for a lenient sentence. Special agent Sam Baker agrees to meet him, but with other business to handle he passes the case to two lower-ranking agents, John Nivens and Ramon Hall. Nivens and Hall take Tom's statement and learn where the money is kept.
