Plot summary
Tim Carey is a talented artist in Los Angeles whose name is not yet known. Carey wins the commission for a stained-glass window larger than any other of its kind by bluffing. He does not know how to make it, and the deadline gives him three years. He starts looking hard for help, and the search brings him to Narcissus Quagliata, a famous glass maestro who may have the answer he needs.
