Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party (2016) on Netflix

Plot summary

The film opens with the author at a halfway house, where he stayed after a conviction for an illegal political contribution. He then enters a basement archive at the Democratic National Committee headquarters. He outlines the party's origins and examines the racism of founder Andrew Jackson, then describes legislation that drove Native Americans off their land and set up the reservation system. He turns to the party's record in the North and the South, where it supported and defended slavery and its spread into the western territories, and to the founding of the Republican Party as a reaction to that support and to the fugitive slave laws.
