Plot summary
Woody has moved from town to town across the world for seven years, looking for somewhere he could finally stay. His travels bring him to Karatsu, a city in Saga, Japan, and to Lynlyn, who sells squid at the port market. The two get along at once, and Woody begins to think he has found the home he wanted. Lynlyn, though, senses things others cannot: when anyone comes within three feet of her, she knows whether that person means her joy or harm. The ability has kept her wary and alone, particularly around men. When Woody steps into that space, she senses danger from him, and she pulls away.
