Plot summary
Eight seasoned fishermen put out from Cox's Bazar on a trawler for the regular catch. The nets bring up a mysterious young girl pulled from the sea, and no one can say how she came to be there. Ill fortune follows the boat: the next days bring no fish at all, and tension rises among the men aboard. With the hold empty, the fishermen attempt the journey home, and the sea has other plans. The story is based on a fairy tale.

- Hawa was accused of violating the Wildlife Protection Act 2012 over a scene in which Chanchal Chowdhury eats starling meat; the wildlife crime unit registered a case against the director on 17 August, then 11 days later asked the court to withdraw it and sought discussions with the production team.
- After the film's release, some on social media claimed it was a remake of Sea Fog; the director denied it, saying Sea Fog is about human trafficking, which does not feature in this story. Chanchal Chowdhury says it is an original story, while some called it a plagiarised version of Abhijan, directed by Razzak.
- A legal notice was issued on 22 August 2022 seeking to stop and ban screenings of the film, citing violation of wildlife conservation laws, obscene language and violent murder scenes; on 29 October 2022 a further case was brought against the producer and Chanchal Chowdhury for not showing an anti-smoking warning.
