Plot summary
A call from a woman named Katherine tells Renato that his father, Flavio, is ill and wants to see him in Chicago. Flavio left Mexico for the United States during the currency crisis and never returned, and Renato has carried a grudge since. He agrees to the visit, and at the hospital he learns he has a half-brother, Asher, a free-spirited man he had already crossed paths with at a coffee shop without knowing him. Flavio asks the pair to deliver an envelope marked Eloise to a man named Evaristo in St. Louis. Asher accepts the errand; Renato argues against it, then goes along anyway.
