Plot summary
Two Helens live in Troy, New York. The elder is married and in her sixties, and she looks after a small baby doll so lifelike that she treats it as a living infant. The younger Helen is in her thirties, four months pregnant, and doing well in her art career. One night an object drops out of the sky and bursts above the town, and strange, unexplainable things begin to happen afterward.
