Plot summary
Katie, Steve, Trish and Sarah sit down with a spirit board, and a creature imprisoned in the cave systems under Woodland Hills, Virginia, reaches Katie through it and makes her grant it freedom. It attacks animals and kidnaps a woman named Mary, and sinkholes open around the town. Most residents blame a mining company working nearby, while Katie and Steve are sure the holes are tied to that night. Rob, an official sent in because he knows the tunnels, joins an impromptu spelunking crew with Penny, his former sweetheart, and with Steve, Katie, Trish, Ken and Sarah, and they go down into the caves.
