Plot summary
In the Sukhbaatar region's town of Dariganga, Tseveen's household has three daughters and no son, until a long-awaited boy, Taivan, joins the family. Taivan grows into a young man and sets his sights on Yagaantsetseg, known as the country's most eligible bachelorette. He is not her only suitor: Hangai, the son of Tseveen's rival Baljir, wants to win her as well, and the two families stand on opposite sides of the contest. The courtship stirs the quiet countryside and sets the town gossiping. Tseveen, a nomad, lives far from town, and he has something in his past that he does not share with the town.
