Plot summary
Pino Gambassi is eleven and lives with hemophilia, kept indoors in his aristocratic family's house. A tutor teaches him at home, and his father, Giorgio, gives him adventure books. From his window he watches the Old Square Boys play in the square below and dreams of joining them. When Giorgio takes him out of the mansion, Pino meets the boys: Marco, their leader, Michele, Domenico and Ciccio, who call him Glassboy for the first time, and a friendship grows, especially with Marco. His grandmother, the Marchioness, holds that his illness sets him above ordinary people, and Elisa is entirely dominated by her.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Composer Giuseppe Cassaro wrote the score for Glassboy inspired by the spring 2020 lockdown, which he was forced into like the rest of Italy, exploring loneliness, isolation, fear and finally hope; the entire recording was made during that same lockdown.
- Stefano Di Via, who plays one of Gianni's hangers-on in the film, had first auditioned for the role of Domenico, but the casting staff wanted to keep him in the cast anyway, giving him the role of one of Gianni's companions.
