Plot summary
Terry and his friend Glen once opened the Gate in Glen's backyard and had to banish what came through. Five years on, Glen's family has moved away, and Terry's mother is dead while his father, an airline pilot, drinks. Drawn to the portal, Terry breaks into Glen's former house and starts a ritual to summon the demons and win the power to set his father's life right. Three teenagers who broke into the house interrupt him: John and Moe mock him, but John's girlfriend Liz, who is interested in demonology, persuades them to finish the ritual with him. A Minion comes through the Gate; John shoots it and storms off. Terry carries the body home and, when it survives, keeps it in a cage as a pet.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Gate II (1990)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The Gate II cut the demons down to a single creature on purpose: director Tibor Takács and effects supervisor Randall William Cook wanted a cunning trickster who wins people's confidence and turns it against them, rather than the first film's interchangeable swarm of demons.
- The Gate was the highest-grossing Canadian film of 1987, and that success led producers John Kemeny and Andras Hamori to set up its sequel at Alliance Entertainment.
