Plot summary
The film revisits the Fyre Festival, the 2017 music festival in the Bahamas that failed and became a fraud case. It is built from the accounts of whistleblowers, victims and insiders, and it reaches past the spectacle of the collapse toward the culture that surrounded it: the pull of FOMO, the number of people who enabled the event for profit, and the absence of accountability online. The film presents itself as a true-crime comedy and it also takes in social media influence and broader questions of morality in a post-truth era. An interview with Billy McFarland is part of it.
