Plot summary
Trudy Morton lives with her uncle Carter Morton, a scientist who wants to end disease and let people live forever. His lab assistant, Oliver Frank, shares the house and works with him there. The gardener, Elsu, also helps Oliver. When Carter's project stalls, he breaks into Rockwell Labs to get Digenerol, which his experiments require. Trudy has nightmares in which she becomes a monster, and her boyfriend Johnny Bruder dismisses them. Police Lt. Boyle and Det. Bill Dillon hear a frightened woman's account of a monster in a swimsuit. A newspaper reports a Frankenstein monster on the loose, and Carter asks Oliver about the story.

- John Ashley recalled that the film's monster was played by a man because the makeup artist did not know it was supposed to be a woman, and that the ending was shot at Harold Lloyd's estate because Harold Lloyd Jr. played a teenager in it.
- Frankenstein's Daughter was shot in just six days for approximately $65,000 and then sold to Astor Pictures for $80,000.
- Makeup artist Harry Thomas wanted to make Sally Todd up as the monster, but the producers did not think she was big enough to fight and look menacing.
- The house in which much of the action takes place was the actual home of producer Marc Frederic, though the film itself was shot at Screencraft Studios in Hollywood.
