Plot summary
Jeff is a New York City jazz pianist in recovery from alcoholism. He travels to rural Maine for his family's yearly Fourth of July trip. His mother and father are there, along with Grandpa, Uncle Kevin, Uncle Mark, Darlene, Tricia, Tony, his cousin Brenda and Brenda's friend Naomi. Alcoholics Anonymous stays part of his life: Bobby is a new sponsee of his, and Bill, the drummer in his band, has been his own sponsor for a long time. On the visit, Jeff confronts his mother and father and the rest of the family about the emotional trauma of his childhood with them.
