Plot summary
Ben and Edna are on the road to California with their infant daughter when their car fails and strands them. Ben sets out on foot for a nearby junkyard, hoping to find a part that will get the vehicle running again, and leaves his wife and child behind. At that same junkyard, the police have been pressing its owner, Harry, over stolen auto parts he is suspected of selling. Harry tells them the cars come from somewhere else. Ben walks in while the accusation is still hanging over Harry, who seizes the chance to name the newcomer as his supplier. Edna waits, then goes to look for her husband, and Harry's strange friend Blowhard chases her through the yard. Sally, known as Poochie, lives there among the junk.
