Plot summary

Being intersex means a person can look like one gender while carrying biological characteristics of another, and is neither fully male nor female. Alicia Roth Weigel, River Gallo and Sean Saifa Wall were each born this way. Weigel, who has XY chromosomes and internal testes that were removed in early childhood, now tells people about her body. She wants to fight a bathroom bill moving through the Texas legislature, and she has been warned that speaking publicly will complicate her dating life. Gallo and Wall likewise grew up with secrecy and with operations they did not agree to, and each has chosen to live openly rather than follow medical advice to hide.
