Plot summary
Twice divorced and raising three children in Los Angeles, Erin Brockovich has no job and no luck finding one. After a car accident she files a lawsuit, and her behavior under cross-examination loses the case. Her lawyer, Ed Masry, stops returning her calls. She turns up at his office and talks him into paid work. Given files for a real estate matter, she notices medical records and visits Donna Jensen, a Hinkley resident whose home Pacific Gas and Electric wants to buy. Donna explains that the company pays for a doctor who treats her family, and that the reason is the chromium. Erin looks into the case and finds that the town's groundwater is contaminated with hexavalent chromium, while the company has told residents it uses a safer form.
