Plot summary
Wolf Küper works as a scientific advisor to the United Nations, trying to make the seriousness of the coming climate crisis understood. Vera Küper manages the household and the couple's two children, five-year-old Nina and one-year-old Simon, and holds a part-time job. Berlin's everyday demands are not suited to a family like theirs, and the strain wears on the marriage. Doctors find that Nina has a fine motor and coordination disorder, which shakes the family's way of life. Wolf recalls a wish Nina had voiced shortly before going to bed: she wanted a million minutes, for the really nice things only.
