Drifting Clouds (1996) on Netflix

Plot summary

Ilona Koponen works as a head waitress at the Dubrovnik restaurant in Helsinki, and her husband Lauri drives a tram. They live in a small apartment, and late one night Lauri brings home a television he bought on hire purchase; the two talk over whether they can keep up the payments. The next day Lauri's company announces layoffs because some tram routes are not profitable, and he is chosen. Soon after his last shift, Ilona hears that the Dubrovnik is being sold to a chain whose own staff will replace the current employees. Too proud to take social welfare money, the couple look for new work, and the results are discouraging.
