Plot summary
Dinosaurs lived on Earth from 251 to 65 million years ago, and the program travels from the Triassic of New Mexico to the Cretaceous of Mongolia, where paleontologists dig for fossils in the Gobi. Fieldwork in New Mexico adds more evidence from the same span, and the American Museum of Natural History studies both periods. Recent ideas about dinosaurs that have gained acceptance frame the account, among them the suggestion that the animals' descendants survive today. Computer-generated images restore the creatures to the screen at full size. Among the dinosaurs shown are Protoceratops and Velociraptor, Diplodocus, called Seismosaurus here, Tarbosaurus, Tarchia, Oviraptor, Microraptor, Confuciusornis, Coelophysis, Effigia, Postosuchus and Redondasaurus.
