Plot summary
Richard Johnson, known as Dick, is 86 and a retired clinical psychiatrist living with dementia. His daughter builds a series of imagined deaths for him. He falls down stairs, takes a blow to the neck, and lies in a casket, and he joins in each scene with good humor. At one point he suggests that she euthanize him. She also pictures him arriving at the gates of heaven. Home movies and family photographs are part of it, among them images of his wife, who died of Alzheimer's disease in 2007. The project began with a dream in which a man sat up in his casket and announced that he was Dick Johnson and not dead yet.
