Plot summary
Southall Football Club, a hundred-year-old all-Asian side in Southall, England, now mainly hosts wedding parties. Its leaseholder, Mr Dhariwahl, owes eight years of rent, and the City Council demands three million pounds in eleven months to keep the ground. The league championship prize is exactly that sum, so the club must win to survive. Property developer Johnny Bakshi wants the site for a multiplex. Captain Shaan Ali Khan brings in former player Tony Singh as coach. Tony sees the team lacks a scorer and approaches Sunny, a gifted forward at Aston who faces racial abuse from teammates and is sidelined. Sunny refuses. Tony challenges him to take the ball from him in ten seconds; Sunny fails and joins training. Shaan resents Sunny for rejecting Southall years earlier.
