Plot summary
Five robbers murder Bill Meceita's father and, in front of the boy, his mother and sister, then burn the house down. Bill survives and becomes a marksman, holding on to what he memorized of each man: a tattoo of four aces, a scar, a distinctive earring, and one face he can picture clearly. A gunfighter named Ryan walks out of prison after fifteen years, sent there by those same men on a robbery charge that was not his. Two men shadow him from the gates. Bill goes after Ryan, certain he has a link to the killers. Ryan overpowers the younger man, spares him, and urges him to give up his pursuit.
