Plot summary

Christine and Neil are vacationing on a remote island when they wake one morning in a messy hotel room, covered in dirt and grass, unable to recall anything from the night before. Their flight is due to leave, but their passports have disappeared, so they cannot take the ferry to the mainland and return to the tourist hotel run by Samantha. Playing back recordings of the previous evening, they watch a visit to a bar, where a waitress named Madee gives Christine a necklace, and a local ritual that ends with Neil attacking Christine. Neil insists the drinks were drugged and denies the rest. Bruises on her neck and the dirt she coughs up tell Christine otherwise. A doctor dismisses their evidence, and the islanders prepare a festival that depicts Christine's image.
