Dead Man Talking (2012) on Netflix

Plot summary

William Lamers is forty and has been sentenced to death for murder. His execution is set for eight in the evening in a rundown prison, and nobody has come: neither his family nor the relatives of his victims. The only spectator is a journalist from a local paper. Karl Raven, the prison director, expects a formality. When William is given the chance to speak before he dies, he starts telling his life story. Raven wants the execution to go ahead and asks Governor Stieg Brodeck for authorization, but the law sets no limit on how long a condemned man's final declaration may run. Brodeck, trailing in the polls a month before the elections, refuses to take the risk, and William is left to keep talking.
