Plot summary
Leslie Calvin is the only person left alive after a submarine sinks her ship, and the disaster leaves her shaken. She goes to a Louisiana plantation to recuperate with an aunt and uncle she has never met, Emily and Norbert. There a young doctor, George Grover, befriends her. Mr. Sydney, a fussy and mysterious guest, is staying at the plantation as well.
