Plot summary
A year after moving from New York City to Stowe, Vermont, Sal Devito is still trying to fit into country life with his girlfriend Jackie. A car accident soon after the move killed a young girl; Sal was cleared of wrongdoing, but the child's grandfather, Ned McDermott, has been seen following him. Sal also suffers painful physical symptoms. Sal's friend Paul is helping him build an art studio when a figure in a hood appears among the trees, and Paul injures his leg. At dinner with their friends Theo and Lesley, the clairvoyant Lesley reads Sal's tarot cards and finds danger in them, along with the promise of aid from a woman he does not know. Jackie believes Adrianna Putnam, a local psychic, can help him.
