Plot summary
Sam Kingsley is young, blond and from the wrong side of the tracks. She and a friend rob a store, and the job goes wrong: shots are fired, her partner is hit, and Sam drives off with the loot. On the run, she breaks down in Death Valley and is stranded in a remote part of California, far from any town. There she meets June Darien, a young woman who dreams of change and of a life beyond the dead end she is stuck in. Sam's free spirit and her talk of living without boundaries draw June in, and the two women grow close.
